Escudero Serna Imperial Reserva 2015, Rioja

A 4^th gen effort from the Escudero family, this Reserva was aged for 5 years in American oak, then spent 28 months in bottle before release.  Rose petals, lavender, and field flowers, balsam, leather, vanilla, and tobacco.  Licorice, raspberry, cherry, and plums too.  Complex and well-developed tannins, revealing its layers and depth with exposure to air.  Aging gracefully, and then some.  Bang for buck supreme.
