  • Viña Sastre is a family-run winery located in the heart of the D.O. in the town of La Horra. The Sastres inherited from their father and grandfather prime vineyard sites in the Burgos area of Ribera del Duero. It boasts some of the oldest vineyards in the Ribera del Duero region. Jesús Sastre is the winemaker and vineyard manager, committed to organic farming and biodynamic agriculture principles, the level of his expertise is unquestioned.

Every few years a remarkable vintage comes around and Jesus commemorates it with a Gran Reserva version of his Pago de Santa Cruz. Aged for 30 months in 1 to 3 year old oak (65% French and 35% American) barrels ranging in size from 225L to 1,000L. The wine shows an abundance of color with violet tones and sweet tannins with perfectly ripe black and red fruits. The palate is balanced between alcohol, acid and high-quality tannins. Complex aromas of truffles, earth, and spices. All of these characteristics and the excellent harvest itself suggest a long aging potential.
