Ordóñez Nisia "Las Suertes" Verdejo Old Vines 2017
Incredibly old vines of Verdejo all dry-farmed in Puras, Valladolid, the Southeastern part of Rueda. This area has a lot of sandy soils, and many of the vines are prephylloxera (planted back in 1885). Hand-harvested grapes fermented with indegenious yeasts in French oak puncheons and demi-muids (500-600 L barrels). 12 months on the lees in French oak and the fact that these vines are so old and rare makes an exceptional wine with full-body. Golden stone fruit, creamy texture - yet it is balanced by a slight racy core. A lovely wine for poached cod with braised leeks and lemons.
