From Rioja Alavesa, comes this special new wine in our shop. Bryan MacRobert, the winemaker and a South African native, has a long family history of farming, fell in love with a woman from Rioja (the rest is history). Crazy about organic farming as well as zealous in his use of various size concrete tanks (and preferring larger neutral French oak barrels to the smaller 225 sizes) he is making wines classically yet with transparency. A fan of great acidity, freshness, and minerality.
Mostly Viura with 5% other white varietals. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in 600-liter oak barrels for 12 months with the lees. Shows notes of pears and honey, subtle beeswax, fresh herbs, and medium body. The perfect elegant style of wine with a lemon-roasted chicken and some smashed red potatoes.
