A relatively new series of “Zero-Zero” wines that our friend Francesc is making at Celler Frisach in DO Terra Alta. His family has historically been farming grapes in the region for over 200 years and he is continuing the tradition with organic practices, and in this case, not using any sulfur additives either. This comes from the “La Serra de Carxano” vineyard, 80-year old bush trained Garnatxa Peluda (the fuzzy-type of Garnacha), on clay soils @450m. Fermented in an open used barrel, skin maceration for seven days. No filtration no “nada.” One year of aging in steel tank and two years in Magnum. 700 mags total. Dark, juicy, a total party-bottle to grab and pop open with friends. After all, Garnacha is one of the most versatile grapes with all types of cuisine - but a pile of grilled meat and root veggies would be a simple and tasty way to share this, we think!
