Brand spanking new to the US - Importer Jose Pastor has added another stellar producer from the Canary Islands, this time specifically Gran Canaria, by grower-producer Carmelo Santana. This is an indigenous blend of predominantly Listan Negro, with some Prieto and other native grapes. Hand harvested, foot trodden, 40% whole cluster fermented with native yeasts, and aged in neutral old French oak for a year give or take a month.
Clocking in at under 12% ABV this is minerally, salty and all of those volcanic crunchy aspects that we love, in a slightly more friendly approach than some of the other Canary Island wines. Clean on the finish, even better with a slight chill and some grilled fish. Quite limited!
