All estate-owned fruit, limestone soil, Petrus clones of Merlot from a unique microclimate in Navarra. Bordeaux-like in spirit with good acidity. It is aged 18 months in 500-liter French oak barrel, half were new. Boasting a wondrous perfume of cocoa, pencil lead, blueberry, incense, and black fruits, the palate is an enticing medley of chocolate, cinnamon, smoke flavors adrift on elegant yet firm tannins with well-woven spicy minerality. The excellent length spreads clove and baking spice notes. A wine meant for long-term aging and given its Pomerol-esque pedigree, it should be regarded and cellared similarly. Really lovely with roasted squab, venison, or even grilled steaks.
