Agusti Torelló Mata "Brut Nature" Gran Reserva Cava
Yes, these are the same growers that make the infamous KRIPTA bottle shaped like a grenade. Agusti Torello gained his first experience of winemaking at the age of 14 in his uncle’s cellar in 1949. Since then his entire life has been focused on making the best possible Cava from indigenous varietals with the highest standards possible. Today his son, Alex Torelló Mata, is at the helm of winemaking.
A blend of 35% Macabeu, 34% Xarel-lo, and 31% Parellada all from vines with more than 50 years of age (vine age is a consideration they use on all of their various bottlings). Farmed organically. Disgorged in May, 2019, after seven years (!!!!) on the lees. A gorgeous bottle of bubbles that has those classic apple/quince/toast/almond notes. Lovely as aperitif with some creamy cow’s milk cheese or gourgères.
